The art of the architect in charge of the project has managed to convey a century old aura into this Mallorcan house, recently built and located in a landscape of olive trees and oaks.
Located on the top of a hill of 500 meters in height, this lonely and cosy house rules over a valley of oak and olive trees, which are a bewitching sight. An unusual treasure because building restrictions are being planned for this area that will ensure present and future tranquility. New building licenses are not granted in this green corner, which belongs to a town of only thirty-two inhabitants half of which are children. So owners are guaranteed exclusivity of a place that has remained unchanged for centuries.
But although the house looks almost as old as the mentioned valley, it is actually a new property, but made to look like the traditional Mallorcan constructions. “The license had been granted for many years and was periodically renewed. We bought it in 2002, when work had already begun”, says the present owner. The project had been commissioned by the architect Bernardo Oliver, one of the most skilled in traditional construction. “Everyone thinks it’s an old house,” the owner confirms. The materials of the region, from the façade to the pavement stone extracted from nearby quarries, are the key to this traditional look.
