Each Balearic Island has its own distinct quality and appeal. The biggest island, Mallorca, is well-known for its beaches and nightlife, but also has a bevy of other attractions that appeal to young and old. This variety is what makes Mallorca one of the premiere vacation spots for Europeans, with over 10 million visitors annually. The amount of vacationers and prime tourist spots make Mallorca an excellent choice for purchasing an investment property.

Here are seven of the top recommended attractions in beautiful Mallorca.

The Cathedral (Catedral de Mallorca)

Located in the capital city of Palma, The Cathedral of Mallorca (locally known as “La Seo”) is probably one of the most visited destinations on the island. It is one of the largest and most impressive Gothic cathedrals in Europe and took over 300 years to finally be completed in the year 1601. Tourists marvel at the magnificent Baroque altarpieces and the fine gold work.

Arab Baths

The Arab Baths, also located in Palma, are impressive because of their history as they feature some of the only Arabic architecture in the capital, dating from the 1100s. Arabic archways, vaulted ceilings, and a tranquil garden take visitors back in time to the former city of Medina Mayurqa which was located here.

Palma de Mallorca Train to Soller

Winding through the beautiful Alfabia mountain range, this quaint train ride of less than 30 km between Palma and Soller provides tourists a view of gorgeous scenery aboard meticulously maintained cars which ride on an extremely narrow-gauge track. Riders pass through 13 tunnels and cross five bridges, including the notable “cinc-points” viaduct.

Es Trenc Beach

Located in the southern part of the island, Es Trenc Beach features turquoise water, fine white sand, and a protected wetland with a wide variety of wildlife and plant species. Es Trenc is very well maintained despite the large number of visitors that flock to it during the hot summer weekends, and well-represents the Balearic vacation beach experience—beautiful and relaxing.

Beautiful Cliffs at Mallorca

Coves del Drac (Caves of the Dragon)

For visitors with more adventurous spirits, the Caves of the Dragon near Porto Cristo on the east coast might satisfy their urge for exploration. The caves, discovered in 1896, are nearly 2,400 metres long and feature beautifully-lit stalactites and stalagmites in a space with a ceiling that reaches up to 25 metres from the cave floor in some parts. A distinctive feature of the caves is the underground Lake Martel, one of the largest below-ground lakes in the world. Classical musicians play a 10-minute concert on the lake every single day.

Katmandu

Katmandu, located in an upside-down building in Magalluf, is an attraction for the whole family that has a 4D thrill ride, live entertainment and minigolf—perfect for the kids after a day of historic sightseeing. Interactive displays and a casual restaurant and bar round out the experience designed to engage all the senses.

Pirates Adventure Show

This show, which is a combination of a cirque-style spectacle, a comedy, stunt performance, and a dinner show, is highly-rated among visitors. There are two versions of the show, one for the whole family, and one for adults 18+ with a bit more risqué humor.
