Mallorca´s darling treats himself
In time for his 34th birthday, Rafa Nadal has splashed out on a brand-new motorboat, the 80 Sunreef Power and has taken delivery of his new toy in Porto Cristo, Manacor, where it will be berthed in the Club Nàutico. The stunning, avantgarde multihull certainly caused quite a stir when it arrived in the port last week, the 24-metre vessel costs a whopping 5 million Euros and accommodates up to 12 people plus crew in absolute luxury.
Needless to say, the founder and president of Sunreef, Francis Lapp, could not be more delighted with such a high-profile client. A photo-shoot with Lapp and his celebrity client certainly boosted the image and standing of the shipyard, it is now well-placed within the nautical scene. It is a known fact that Nadal loves to spend his free time, when he is not on tour or occupied at his tennis academy, navigating the sea around the Balearic Islands. He was often photographed with his wife and friends on his previous boat, called Beethoven, which has been placed for sale at 2.6 million Euros. Now the paparazzi will have to get used to looking out for his new yacht, the unusual, ultra-modern design and appearance should ease their search, though!
The shipyard and its boats
Apparently, Rafa visited the shipyard in Gdansk, Poland last year to order the yacht. Sunreef specialise in multihull motor yachts and Nadal’s new boat is a prime example of supreme visionary design.
The Sunreef yachts created quite a stir at various boat-shows in the south of France last year, and Rafa will certainly turn heads when he takes to the Balearic waters this season. Sunreef take pride in having created high-performance vessels, each with a fantastically spacious and luxurious accommodation. Rafa will be able to enjoy his vast master suite with a dressing room, walk-in shower and a skylight that will allow the suite to be filled with sunshine. Life on board this masterpiece will be in maximum comfort and seaworthiness is geared for world-wide navigation.
Various additional toys, such as a dinghy and jet skis are housed in the stern garage, the bow terrace has ample space for sun-bathing and lounging. Sunreef are the first shipyard to add a flybridge to a catamaran, Rafa’s includes a whirlpool and luxurious seating areas apart from the helm. The tennis star oversaw the construction, adding his own ideas to the innovative design, making sure that it is 100% according to his personal taste.
The Balearic Islands will be seeing a lot of this fantastic luxury yacht during the coming years. Rafa and his wife love entertaining their families and friends on board and cruising the islands has become a favourite summer pass-time for this high-profile couple. Sunreef will be delighted to know that their new 80-footer will be attracting a lot of attention, promotion of a brand cannot get any better!
